PEDESTRIANS ARE PEOPLE TOO!!

I am appealing to all the vehicle drivers in Cheriton Bishop Parish.  There are some, when they climb into their vehicles who become road hogs!!!!!   There used to be a jolly good public information film which reminded people of this regrettable fact!

I am sure that you are all aware of the areas where road safety is compromised.  In Yeoford Road on the blind bend coming up to the junction, and outside the village shop.

Please, please, please; especially at night, take account of pedestrians and drive at an appropriate speed when approaching the junction.  Also all lorry drivers and big 4 X 4 and tractor drivers, etc., consider the pedestrian when turning into Yeoford Road.

At the village shop; please do not leave your engines running, especially dirty diesels, when going into the shop.  This is air pollution and affects sensitive individuals, older people and children, especially babies.

Also, couldn’t you consider parking a little way up and down the main road, etc., when there is a log jam, instead of creating a hazard for pedestrians?

We are people too and we are out in the cold, rain and snow.  It wouldn’t hurt you to have a bit of exercise!

We are all villagers and we are all members of the same community; we should be helping one another.

This brings me on to my final point.  Highways have agreed to fill the yellow container by the telephone box with sand and grit.   Could some of the men of the village organise themselves to use this medium to make the pavements safe for pedestrians?  I have been informed that they will readily re-fill this container when it is needed.

They have reminded me of the number to ring on 0845 155 1004 for the re-filling of the container, and on the same number, you can report potholes, street lights, etc., etc.

Please, villagers, have a care for pedestrians.  They are people too!
